The Museum of the Holy Monastery of Skiadi aims to preserve and display the remaining relics and artefacts of the monastery, which were preserved after it was deserted. At the same time, it attempts to illustrate to the general public the lively relationship of the monastery with the residents and the wider man-made and natural environment of southern Rhodes and Chalki. Every year the Virgin Mary of southern Rhodes, Panagia Skiadeni, is carried on an Easter procession on the shoulders of the faithful from village to village, sanctifying the houses and the natural space. This procession is connected to the customs and culture of the region.
